Inside a Media Day Shoot with Leah's Gymnastics
Media Day isn't just picture day. It's the day a team gets to see itself the way everyone else is about to see them — strong, unified, and ready for the season ahead.
That's exactly what we walked into with Leah's Gymnastics. Media Day is one of our favorite kinds of shoots because it's part portrait session, part team event, and part energy management — twenty athletes, twenty different personalities, one gym, and a limited window to get it all done right.
Why Media Day Matters
For a gym, Media Day photos aren't just keepsakes — they're the images that go on rosters, social media, banners, and recruiting materials for the entire season. That means every shot has to do double duty: look great individually, and represent the team as a whole. It's a different kind of pressure than a single senior session, and we plan for it differently.

How We Run It
A great Media Day comes down to flow. Before we ever pick up the camera, we walk the space with the coach to map out backgrounds, lighting, and where athletes will line up so no one is standing around waiting. Individual portraits come first while energy is high, then we move into team and squad groupings, and we always leave room for a few candid, just-being-themselves shots — because those end up being some of the ones a team loves most.
With Leah's, that meant working around a full gym schedule and still walking away with clean individual portraits for every athlete, squad groupings for coaches to use however they need, and a handful of candid moments that captured what practice actually feels like — focus, teamwork, and a little bit of chaos in the best way.
What Teams Get
A Media Day session with us isn't just a folder of photos — it's a full library a gym can pull from all season: individual athlete portraits, team and squad shots, and behind-the-scenes energy shots for social media. Freezing Motion, Collecting Memories isn't just a tagline for seniors — it's exactly what a gym needs from its Media Day too.
If your gym, team, or club has a Media Day coming up, we'd love to be the ones behind the camera.
